Pobeda says turns down firm contracts for 20 Boeing 737 MAXes

MOSCOW, Aug 16 (PRIME) -- Low-cost airline Pobeda has turned down firm contracts for 20 Boeing 737 MAX jets, CEO Andrei Kalmykov told reporters on Monday.

"Yes, we have turned down contracts for 20 Boeing 737 MAX without penalty," Kalmykov said.

Airlines suspended flights on Boeing 737 MAX in 2019 in many countries after two planes of the model crashed, and it was proved to have to faults in certification. The U.S. and several other states restarted the use of Boeing 737 MAX in November 2020, but Russia said that the pandemic delayed certification.
